On 27th February 2009, over ten years ago, Radio and Weasel dropped the YouTube video for one of their biggest songs ever titled ‘Bread and Butter’. The song was an instant hit.

The dynamic duo had been on the scene for just a couple of years and in that period, they had released a couple of hit songs – none however had really received massive airplay like ‘Bread and Butter’ did.

The song won them several young fans, because of the nature of its lyrics, including someone who has grown to become a big star of his generation – John Kasadha a.k.a John Black.

The ‘Mama Bulamu’ hit-maker revealed that the song was such a big one and he enjoyed listening to it too. But how old was he at the time it was released?

Through his Twitter account, John Black reveals that he was a really young boy who had just joined Primary school in P.1 when that song ruled the airwaves.

According to his bio, John Blaq was born in 1996 which makes him 23-years-old today. This means that he listened to the song when he was just thirteen-years-old. How was he in P.1 at 13?

Ignore our Maths anyway. At least he acknowledges what a hit song it was and also how he has been part of the music industry from a young age. Watch the ‘Bread and Butter’ song here and reignite your own memories:
