Even in 2020, Uganda will be open to foreign artistes; particularly Nigerians, to express their art and tap the diverse local entertainment market despite the concept being despised by several local consumers.
Over the weekend, we had Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie a.k.a Patoranking performing for his fans at Lugogo Cricket Oval and before we come to terms about if or not it was flop, another Nigerian has announced that he will be performing at the same venue.
Through his Twitter, former P Square singer; Paul Okoye a.k.a Rudeboy, officially confirmed that he will indeed be performing at the Lugogo Cricket Oval come 14th February 2020.
Uganda, its official. I will be performing live on the 14th of February 2020 (Valentine Day) at the Lugogo Oval Cricket Center Kampala.@rudeboypsquare | Twitter
The most recent event that involved a Nigerian performer left many Ugandan music fans with mixed feelings. It was a flop if we’re to go by Patoranking’s own standards and several local music stars were not impressed.
With Rudeboy’s revelation, local media personality and socialite, Sheilah C. Gashumba has already raised her voice pointing out that it could turn out to be yet another flopped show because of the wrong choice of venue.
But which promoters are working with these artists these days.. Are you intentionally trying to lower artists’ brands with flopped shows. I honestly feel sad about this. Rudeboy at Serena yes but cricket oval, Hell no.@SheilahGashumba | Twitter
Can Rudeboy come and flip it all around for his other Nigerian counterparts? Well, we know the date, month, and year. We shall keep our fingers crossed to see how that turns out.
