Entebbe High court judge Jane Francis Abodo sentenced Godfrey ‘Troy‘ Wamala to 14 years in jail on October 31st, 2019 after he was found guilty of manslaughter in the Mowzey Radio case.
Mowzey Radio, real names Moses Nankitije Ssekibogo, died on 1st February 2018 at Case Hospital after sustaining head injuries following a bar brawl in Entebbe.
The major suspect in the case Wamala Godfrey a.k.a Troy was found guilty last week as the court found it accurate that he led to the death of the fallen Goodlyfe singer. He was consequently sentenced to fourteen years in jail.
Singer Pius Mayanja a.k.a Pallaso finds the ruling unsatisfactory. He argues that Radio was a very important figure of the nation and the breadwinner to his family and hence Troy deserved a heavier sentence.
Radio was so precious. He wasn’t just an important person to his family but to the whole country and many other nations. I think the judge didn’t give her sentence basing on the fact that Radio was a precious thing.
Radio was the breadwinner in his family, he was a national musician, educated so many children, he was an inspiration to so many artists, he gave us hope that one would come from the ghettos and reach the B.E.T awards stage. He was a graduate. The judge should have handled the case like one of a very important person.Pallaso
Since the court hearing started, the family and friends of the deceased have often come out and expressed their dissatisfaction with how the case has been handled.
