The beef between Diamond Platnumz and Ali Kiba is evident as the latter is not ready to settle down for a feast with his acclaimed nemesis. He turned down WCB’s request to perform at the Wasafi Festival.

For a couple of years, majorly after Diamond made it to the big scene as one of the finest East African singers, there have been rumors that the WCB boss is at loggerheads with Ali Kiba.

The two have always declined to comment on the issue and have played it cool at the few occasions they have bumped into each other in public. Last week, however, their beef escalated and became a public secret.

During a press conference to announce and reveal the official dates of the 2019 Wasafi Festival, Diamond Platnumz mentioned Ali Kiba as part of the artistes who are lined up for performance at the anticipated event.

Well, it was a lie. Ali Kiba had not been briefed about it and he was not aware that he was to perform at the festival slated for 9th November. It all did not settle down well with the legendary Tanzanian singer.

He told Diamond to stop mentioning his name and associating him with the Wasafi Festival. He further threatened to expose Diamond for all his shenanigans if he fails to let him be.

Babu Tale, Diamond’s official manager, revealed that a formal request was then forwarded to Ali Kiba’s team asking him to perform at the much anticipated festival.

Ali Kiba is said to have declined the request as well. Babu Tale further revealed that he was shocked by Ali Kiba’s response because Wasafi has nothing personal against him.

Before going to the U.S, I reached out to Ali Kiba to ask him to be at the festival. Music is about competition, but when it comes to big things like this, people come together. These things are not personal, no wonder Nigerians are going far. We should not accept to be split apart by people who just want to hate. By doing that, we are killing the industry.

Babu Tale

Wasafi Classic Baby, through Babu Tale, have now decided to let Ali Kiba be but continued to despise his reaction saying that even Harmonize who has personal differences with them will be performing at the event.

It is clear now that Ali Kiba will not show face at the festival which is expected to have performances from the top artistes from across East Africa. Do you think Ali Kiba took the best decision?
