Legendary deejay, TV and Radio presenter Michael Owori, popularly known as DJ Bush Baby, has launched an new initiative dubbed ‘Salute The Deejay’ for the disk jockeys.

Bush Baby, who runs the ‘Bush Baby’s Top 20’ show on Next Radio, says that the online initiative is meant to help professionalize the deejaying industry.

He developed the idea in realization that Ugandan deejays were not recognized and appreciated enough due to unprofessional conduct, poor marketing, poor branding, among other things that have stalled the development of the industry which exposed him to the world.

Speaking to this website, DJ Bush Baby noted that ‘Salute The Deejay’ is to become a platform that will help broadcast and market mixes from various Ugandan deejays, announce the venues where they will be performing, avail their contacts for bookings, among other things.

It will also act as a place where the deejays’ branded merchandise; e.g. hoodies, caps, shirts, etc can be sold.

With this, Bush Baby hopes to organize an all-Deejay Festival in 2020 at which a host of deejays will showcase their talents and craft.

Most local deejays have already bought the idea and plan to support the initiative to help promote their industry. The likes of DJ Aludah, DJ Naselow, MC Kats, have backed the legendary Deejay to go ahead with the initiative.

We shall keep you informed on further developments and we surely commend the initiative.
