Chaka Chaka requests Ugandan Police to arrest whoever stole her laptop

On the 31st of December 2019, South African legendary singer, Yvonne Chaka Chaka was deported from Uganda back to her country South Africa under unclear circumstances.

In the due process, when the security officers had raided the Pearl of Africa Hotel to arrest her, she lost some of her valuables including a laptop during a scuffle with security.

Through her promoter, Abtex Promotions, who had booked her to perform at the annual ‘Enkuuka Yo’mwaka’ in Bulange Mengo, Chaka Chaka asked police to carry out an inquiry into the theft of her belongings.

According to Abtex Promotions spokesperson Aloysious Matovu Kizza Junior, the company filed a case at the Kampala Central Police Station on Tuesday.

However, the police responded that if Chaka Chaka lost any of her belongings, it should be her personal driver, a one Najjib Sula, who had been hired by the hotel to chauffer the singer to the airport, that was responsible.

Mr. Matovu added that police had opened a case of theft against Najjib Sula because police had offered to transport Chaka Chaka using their vehicle but she declined, saying she would look like she had committed a crime.
