MTN Uganda has sent warm wishes to Ker Alur Kingdom as they celebrate the Tenth coronation anniversary of HRM Ubimo Phillip Olarker Rauni III.

This follows MTN Uganda CEO, Wim Vanhelleputte courtesy visit to His Majesty, the
Ubimo of Ker Alur, Phillip Olarker Rauni III at his palace here in Kampala.

In the meeting, Wim announced a contribution of UGX 20 million to support the king’s 10th anniversary celebrations.

MTN also pledged to support the kingdom’s inter-clan cycling events in a bid to promote social
cohesion in the West Nile kingdom.

The Ubimo expressed his heartfelt gratitude to MTN Uganda for being the first telecom company to partner with Ker Alur Kingdom.

At the short but cordial event, the Ubimo baptized the MTN CEO “Jalngidhu”, an Alur name that is literally translated as “The one who brings a lot of good luck”.

The Ubimo further handed Vanhelleputte a traditional whisk as a sign of authority, as well as his official portrait and the royal flag of Ker Alur to seal the bond created between the two institutions.

While representing the MTN Uganda CEO at the coronation event in Zombo today, MTN Uganda’s Regional Business Manager, James Ndyamuhaki reiterated the importance of MTN working with the Ker Alur Kingdom and went on to congratulate the Ubimo upon his great milestone.

“On behalf of MTN Uganda, I congratulate the Ubimo of Ker Alur upon this tremendous milestone. I applaud him for his insightful and wise leadership that he has offered the people of Ker Alur over the years. I offer good wishes to the people of Ker Alur,” Ndyamuhaki said.

Ndyamuhaki further emphasized the CEO’s message that, MTN is focused on actively demonstrating what can be achieved if the company works together to enable a shared value system.

“We firmly believe that we are good together, because MTN only succeeds if the communities in which we operate succeed”, Mr. Ndyamuhaki concluded.

Given the prevailing Covid19 pandemic, the Ubimo celebrated his tenth coronation anniversary scientifically under the theme “Live healthy and always wear a mask correctly” to control the spread of the virus.

In addition to Ker Alur Kingdom, MTN Uganda has entered a two-year partnership with 4 other cultural institutions namely; Tooro, Bunyoro, Busoga and Ker Kwaro (Acholi).
