Singer Bobi Wine’s personal bodyguard Edward Ssebuffu alias Eddie Mutwe says that by freeing him and 16 others on bail, the government wasn’t doing them a favor but rather it is their constitutional right.
Speaking to media at the National Unity Platform offices in Kamwokya after being granted bail, Mutwe thanked whoever stood by their side during the six months that they have been behind bars.
An emotional Eddie Mutwe thanked Nubian Li for always guiding them, counseling, and keeping them spirited while behind bars saying he played an excellent job during the trying moment.
He further thanked Bobi Wine and the entire NUP legal team for pressurising court while demanding for their release and freedom.
I thank God who has protected us for all this long while we are still together and strong. Secondly, I thank Bobi Wine and entire legal team that has worked hard for our release and those who spared sometime and visited our families in our absencia and stregenthened them.
Releasing me wasn’t a favor, he was supposed to free me because I never committed any crime. We didn’t commit any criminal offense though we have been behind bars and all cases that were pinned against us were just fabricated.
If they just want to keep you behind bars, they handle you to court martial.Eddie Mutwe
Nubian Li also stressed how they are still strong and are going to stick to facts no matter the circumstances that they face until the release of several other political prisoners who are languishing in different prisons across the country.
We are not scared. We are still strong and we are going to stick to facts and fight for our brother’s release who are still in prison.Nubian Li
