Singer Jose Chameleone says he returned to school to attain higher education for personal reasons including not dying an illiterate.
Last week, Chameleone graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Diplomacy from Cavendish University.
Immediately, debates ensued online regarding what his next step is and why a musician as successful as he is would return to school.
A few critics hinted that he wanted to show off among fellow artists who did not attain degrees. Others noted that he is eyeing an ambassadorial job from the government.

While speaking to the media on Monday evening, the Leone Island boss noted that he did not go back to school to boast but to rather attain a degree for personal growth.
He further asked the media not to involve him in academic comparisons with fellow learned artists because that was not his goal when he returned to school.
Please don’t involve me in battles I will not manage. I am only an artist who had added a level to my education, that’s enough. I don’t want to be involved in discussions about academic achievements. That’s not my business.
I went back to school for many reasons and one of those is that I did not want to die an illiterate. My media people, help and disassociate me from such narratives. I did not go to school to boast, this was my personal business, not for competition.
