A Ugandan all-female crew produced drama film, ‘Bed Of Thorns’ (Tosirika) won the Africa Focus Award at the London Art House Film Festival (LAHFF) over the weekend.

The film, that was produced and directed by Eleanor Nabwiso and Nabwiso films, started premiering early this year on 30th March with an aim of addressing the issues of gender-based violence.

It was marketed with Tosirika – a Luganda word which when loosely translated means (Don’t Keep Quiet) – to raise awareness about violence against women as a celebration of the women’s month of March.

The film saw social media comedienne Martha Kay and media personality Malaika Tenshi Nnyanzi cap their film acting debut.

The other popular figures that featured in the movie included comedian and events emcee Patrick ‘Salvado’ Idringi, Diana Kahunde, Agnes Kebirungi, Michael Wawuyo Jr., Sara Kisawuzi and Housen Mushema.
